Māmala Aloha ʻĀina 2021

What a way to celebrate Earth Day! Although it is different in the time of COVID, we came together in spirit to care for the ‘āina for our first virtual clean-up. Mahalo for your continued efforts in our community.

Students and faculty from Saint Louis School, Punahou School, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, Hālau Kū Māna, ‘Iolani School joined together with the non-profit Trees to Seas to care for our watershed for Earth Week April 17 - 25, 2021.

In a year where we could not gather, we came together within our own communities to care for the watershed and collectively removed 6,730 lbs of waste.

Our efforts removed 581 cigarette butts, 166 plastic bags, 36 plastic cups, 258 plastic food wrappers, and during a pandemic year - 46 latex gloves and 26 disposable face masks.

Māmala Aloha ʻĀina 2020-21 Talk Story

September 22, 2020 - 4:30-6:00pm

2020 has definitely not been a friendly year for traditional aloha ‘āina events. However, we were hoping we could virtually come together to discuss any opportunities that may be more physically distant or acceptable by current/near-future regulations. Ideas to what is safe may vary in our community, so it would be great if we could come up with a variety of opportunities where people can support activities they feel most comfortable with. Please feel free to invite your students, as they are also critical to the conversation.
